If Paul told the church in the first century to learn from the clear warnings of the ancient past, then the twenty-first century church best listen to what the Spirit has always said lest we fall into the same perils (1 Corinthians 10:11).
How anyone can interpret 2 Tim 3 v 16 in any other way than the plain reading of the words defeats me. ‘All scripture…’ means what it says. Also in the previous verse Paul refers to the scriptures which Timothy was brought up on as making him ‘wise to salvation’. As you clearly state the scriptures which Timothy knew were the books of the OT. So those so-called NT Christians have some explaining to do in their rejection of the OT.
Thank you! Growing up in the C of C this seemed to be the norm- dismissal. In reality the dismissal caused me to consider that that body and leaders didn’t care about anything but grace, unless of course something went against the “bi-laws” they made. It also meant that a lot of us grew up not seeing a fuller picture of the Lord and the beauty of prophesy fulfilled. This argument is also why I see the flaw in the non- instrumental debate. The Bible is one continuous work all completely connected.
The OT is the NT concealed, the NT is the OT revealed. The Bible is one continuous narrative of the redemption of mankind and is the whole counsel of YAH. Testament, chapter and verse divisions have adversely affected the narrative of the books, but it is what it is. We must work with this imperfect creation of man to find the Spirit leading us as individuals to YAH’s will.
You - We must work with this imperfect creation of man to find the Spirit leading us as individuals to YAH’s will.
Great comment up to this point IMO. I do not consider the scriptures to be an “imperfect creation of man”. It is God’s inspired Word and in the original autographs perfect. Since we do not the originals, and mistakes have indeed been made in translation, then yes, it is imperfect. But textual scholars have determined that over 99% has been recovered and the remaining less than 1% undetermined has no affect on doctrine.
I will not follow a book written by men no matter how wise. I will and am following a book written by God under the enlightening supervision of the Spirit. Blessings.

I believe he was referring to the testaments and chapter and verse divisions as an imperfect creation of man.
