Well said. The driving force behind the advertised works must be a hunger and thirst for a righteous Savior and righteous living (Matthew 5:6). Righteousness not only recognizes the existence of right - it requires a recognition of the standard’s source that distinguishes between the right and wrong. An appetite for righteousness leads to the mercy that effects the heart (Romans 1:16-17; Acts 17:31; Matthew 5:7-8). Without that recognition our eyes are blind.

My alarms went off last year after doing research on the creators of the 'He Gets Us' campaign. But exactly who, or what, funds it is unknown to me. I have to wonder if it's all a calculated scheme to water down the Gospel. Certainly, this year's ad does that.

Check out this powerful 1-minute video on You Tube: 'The Christian Super Bowl Ad They Should Have Made - He Saves Us.'

I agree, and the He Saves Us is great.

We had a roundtable about the ads last year, and even though they weren't nearly as bad as this year's we could see the direction it was going. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuEGg8QLxAA

Great stuff. Really clear thinking. I hadn’t thought about the ads that way.

No matter how many articles I read by high level Gospel speakers, teachers and preachers I never hear a call to arms. Are we or aren't we told by most Bible writers to boldly go after false teachers? I listen to denominational teachers enough to need duct tape available at all times to wrap around my head because I am enraged at what I hear and then see 500,000 views and 1,000,000 subscribers from these very same tools of Satan, and most of my top 100 Gospel preachers barely break 1000 either way. I know the truth, but can we agree that even the Apostle Paul went after Peter! We make comments within our circle about famous false teachers constantly but it seems that naming names in an outspoken public way has been off limits out of love and fear of unbelievers getting the wrong idea. The hardest thing for me to do is walk away from a fight especially when I know lost people are stepping into eternity every minute without knowing the truth of Christ, the Bible and what false doctrine truly is. It seems that "preaching to the choir" is part of who we have become. I see this problem in most churches of Christ. Our society has made us into what it wants us to be-hearers of the Word and not doers.

Bang on. As an aside, some just don’t get it. One of your commenters is looking at Puzzle and not Aslan. You show great patience.

Thanks for sharing some specific details that needs to be said. This post is well written and nails several details on the head. As I ponder He Gets Us I can identify several errors, but the best way to sum it up is this isn't the gospel of the Bible, it is a philosophy of western culture attempting to transform the message of the Bible as a whole. Once again, thanks for sharing Jack.

Would you say we shouldn't stop people from committing murder or stealing?

Jesus taught by both, and we should too.

I believe you have an idealistic view of how people’s actions are driven by their thoughts. Our subconscious often doesn’t ask “what is right?” but “what do people want me to believe?”

That’s why laws and social change drive changed hearts.
