God opened a door for us after 9/11. People who had never been inside a church building gathered with their neighbors to pray. As the church, what did we do? Smiled and welcomed people without taking the opportunity to share the gospel with them. As time passed we found ourselves defending the presence of God in face of tragedy. I hate to say it, but most congregations use the Wal-Mart model, “We’re open, come on in.” God brought us people, and most of failed to take advantage of it.

Re. Doug Marshall’s remark: Some kind of study or poll was mentioned this week. They said half of democrats said political violence is ok under certain circumstances. I don’t see much regular social media (mostly friends etc.) but my daughter informs me that horrible things are said against Christians and republicans. Everyone needs to wake up. I believe Jack is exactly right.

Indeed. And they're doing the same thing they did after Trump was shot, when the polls revealed similar numbers.

Such a great point about unity, and a great article overall. Thank you. Understanding this about unity gives me more courage to speak up and defend God's word

Anyone who would dispute your point that "a significant chunk of our country wants to see conservative Christians killed" has either buried their head in the sand or are willing to dismiss the threats online because they're on social media, which is "not real life." The problem with that is that those are REAL PEOPLE making those comments on social media. And it shows that a significant chunk of people in this country want people like us to be silenced, one way or another.

It's a crazy claim. I saw one claim that they're up to 40,000 documented people with celebratory social media posts.

The sad thing is that 40,000 is just the number of people dumb enough to post about it on social media. There are more who agree with them but are smart enough to keep it to themselves right now.

Respectfully in this case you made a blanket statement without providing anything to back it up. I questioned it. It is not my job to do your research.

Is there an actual question hiding in your comment? I don’t have time to do your research. You come across as an arguer and not an asker. Shaking dust off feet…
