“And now we come to the Festivus airing of grievances. I’ve got a lot of problems with you people, and now you’re gonna hear about it!”
Just kidding.
As a site aimed at critically analyzing what we do in the church, it is not surprising when accusations of “you’re too negative” come from time to time.
Today, the Grinch’s heart grows. It’s a Festivus miracle.
Instead, let’s take a minute to appreciate some of the most basic truths of Christianity—truths so basic we often fail to be sufficiently blown away by them.
God loves us
Think about it. The Creator of the universe so embodies love He paid the ultimate price to allow you and me to live with Him. He wants you and me to know Him. Incredible. God. Loves. You.
God dwells in us
He so loves us He has made His home within us in the Spirit. His determination to see our salvation through is so strong He has not left us alone in our effort to go to Him.
God has surrounded us with an eternal family who love us and help us grow more like Christ
Where would we be without the wonderful people we come to know through the church?
God has spoken to us
Whatever my device you’re reading this on, you are less than 2 clicks away from reading the very Word of God, given from heaven. How incredible is that???
God wants to hear from us
Not only can we pray any time, anywhere… He wants us to lean on Him so He can carry our burdens.
God is going to raise us from the dead
Chances are very good you and I will die someday. But that that isn’t the end should never cease to amaze us and fill us with hope. No matter how tough life gets here, on the other side of it all it’ll all be more than okay.
God is going to live with us forever
He didn’t provide us a nice, eternal Hawaiian vacation free of this life’s stress. He’s going to be there Himself. The whole point of this entire project culminates in God living with His people. It just makes you wonder, “What is man that you take thought of him?” (Psalm 8:4a)
Yes, those are the most basic truths of Christianity. But they’re also the most joy-filling, hope-giving truths the world will ever know. Make it a regular habit to drink deeply of the love and peace they give. Never stop being blown away by God and His plan.
Merry Festivus Christmas, everyone.
