Excellent article… I do think the “powers that be” (Satan) has really hamstrung our efforts in the church. They have labeled EVERYTHING political. You have to be “politically correct” to not offend anyone now… 🔥
Why is abortion political? Why is transgenderism political? Why is the LGBTQ+ lobby political? Why is the absolute toxicity of feminism political? Why is the topic of political violence, political?
Etc. etc. etc.… 🤦🏽♀️
Isn’t there an old saying that goes something like this… “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything?”
Believe me, I would absolutely LOVE to talk about some of these issues locally and the scriptures behind them… but, I’m really not sure how that would be received… 😔
As someone who has been producing online content for 20 years, I agree with this 100%. There's a lot of good that can be done with articles, podcasts, and videos online, but they are no substitute for elders in the local church, shepherding the flock among them, and watching out for the dangers and challenges currently threatening the sheep (rather than looking backward to the threats that faced the church a generation or two ago).
Blessings, brother. God is calling us to something different, just not sure what it is yet. I'm thankful for the great community of believers here! And I relish in this walk with Him.
Great article. My wife and I have only been attending church for a little over a year and we're already finding this experience to be prominent. It's disheartening and also enlightening because it emphasizes why so many who go to church still struggle.
Sorry to hear that. Hope you don't get too discouraged. I tend to think God has blessed us with a medium like this, or podcasts, to get us through these times of rebuilding so we don't all feel isolated like Elijah.
A phrase I often use is, "Who's your influencer?" Obviously, the answer should be Jesus, but oftentimes it's what your article addresses. Those of us who are "elder" in years can find like ears who are willing to listen. But it's a bit harder to get younger people, even those whom we have known for years, to listen. Why? Because they aren't asking questions to begin with. They don't realize that the "new normal" is anything but. We can prepare ourselves to answer effectively, as you recommend, but until they ask...we get a nicer version of "Sure, Boomer."
An elder is above 50 yrs old. He is qualified as a bishop per scripture
His adult children are Christian
His wife has a meek and quiet nature
He has a proven Ministry, without reproach.
Such is a tremendous help to the church. His principle duty is to keep holy things holy, keep the train on the tracks. If there is a godly elder in your life reverence him, and thank God for him.

🙏🏽💖🙏🏽 keep up the good work Mr. Jack 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Well, you never know - you might just find people willing to chat who you didn't expect. I certainly get the apprehension, though.

For sure
