I don't follow murder stories. It's demonic, in my opinion. But I have seen folks on here mentioning this woman's name and murder. I didn't know the story until now. So here's my unbiased take...
The woman is not the victim. And children never deserve to be murdered. Ever.
Jack, normally I agree with your perspectives on spiritual topics. Not in this matter, however. As a mental health professional for 20 years, I have seen the mind-altering effects of psychotropic medications on people many times. Those powerful chemicals can significantly impair a person's cognitive state and cause numerous adverse mental and physical side effects. I also have experienced and know many other women who have also experienced post-partum depression and anxiety. No offence, Jack, but there is no way for you to begin to understand how that impacts a woman's mental capacity and wellbeing. Please do not judge what you cannot possibly comprehend. Also, Jesus did not allow the woman caught in adultery to suffer the full consequences of her crime/sin. He showed grace, even though she made the conscious choice to commit that crime/sin. It appears that Lindsey Clancy's brain and body were so overwhelmed by months of being given multiple drugs that she was not at all in her right mind. Do you not think that Christ would show grace and mercy in that situation?
"You as a man can't understand it" is the same argument made in favor of abortion. If we followed through on this idea, we would not be able to have a justice system.
Think through the implications of this for just a second... if the argument is that women who are dealing with PPD and/or are on medication for mental struggles cannot be held responsible for their conclusions, then the only logical conclusion is that they should not be allowed around their children since we can't expect any certain course of action. I don't think that's a road we want to go down.
With respect, brother, I disagree that abortion is a valid comparison to debilitating post-partum depression. It seems to me that respectful debate about the issue is not an option, so I will refrain from further comment about it. I pray that you will come to a more merciful mindset toward those with severe mental illnesses.
I just want to be clear, I did not compare abortion to postpartum depression, I compared the argument that a man cannot speak on something without experiential knowledge.
Mental illness deserves our respect and mercy, but that still leaves much room for discussion about how to handle the fallout from it.
I have made several comments on the Lindsay Clancy story, and I just want to say that I agree with your article 100%. I am just saying that I know what medicines can do to people, and we do not know what was going through her mind when she performed this sickening act. I think we all trust doctors too much and are afraid not to do what they tell us or prescribe for us. I don't know how to get people to see this. Just because they have an "education" does not mean they are doing what is best for us. I have read and seen and experienced too much. It has somehow turned into a money-making business, not a healing business. This is not something I have discovered recently. I am 3 weeks shy of 80 years old, and it is something I have followed for many years now. I cured my own children (and prevented a lot of illness) by using natural remedies when they were small. I don't think there are many "good" doctors left now. Big Pharma has them under its thumb.
